What ten years of widowhood taught me
I have found myself as a detached observer rather than full participant, but I can sparkle in company.
I do have more social confidence , sometimes.
I still really like teaching, presenting, leading small groups.
A new activity brings new friends.
I still like to be asked to do things, but can sometimes say no
There are many different ways of entertaining angels.
Every wedding is different
God will provide the pathway. For me, leaving teaching was the right thing to do as it opened up all sorts of other possibilities.
Skills learned in earlier life can be used at this stage.
Be willing to put in the effort to take things further.
Six months away doing something somewhere else is not as long or difficult as it may at
first seem. Arriving in a new country is very exciting.
I don't mind going on holiday on my own
I like discovering new places
Sunshine, warmth and blue skies are more important to me than I realised
Driving is good but so are trains, and bike
The effort of moving (house, church, activity) is worth it.
One thing leads to another.
Art is not resolved but doesn't go - it retains its potency
Art courses and holidays do make a difference in confidence
Seeing others enjoying art (making or viewing) gives me joy
People who understand creativity are exciting to talk to
I find it easier to prioritise commitments than I think
There is a balance to be found between being out and being home
My good relationship with each of the children is a wonderful thing
The model of mother and father as parents has been very significant
Babies are born and grow
The children really support one another in different ways at different times, and by being
there and doing that they support and encourage me
Diary planning is still hard after many years of timetables and routines
Books are my companions
My journal is important to help me think
Learning is by increments
Christmas is less significant and important than it was
J seems a very long way away now, but he is still remembered so clearly when all the
children are together
In 10 years a new persona can be formed - I am still me but it looks very different now
that what it looked like in 2002
God really is faithful in the little and big things
Faith is still strong, by His grace
